Back to Drawing Again...and Loving It.
I was a traditional animator for 17 years, working for various studios in Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Vancouver and Sydney. One of the studios I worked for was at Walt Disney Animation Studio in Sydney, Australia. I worked on a number of sequels to some of my favorite Disney animated films, such as Peter Pan 2, Bambi 2, Jungle Book 2, Tarzan 2, Lilo and Stitch 2, Bambi 2, Brother Bear 2, Lion King 1 1/2, and Three Musketeers with Mickey, Donald and Goofy.
Due to an injury I developed a Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). I had to quit my job from Disney to recover from it. It’s an injury that made the act of drawing painful. It took a while and a lot of physiotherapy for me to be able to use my right arm comfortably again. During those recovery period, drawing was still a struggle. This led me to a decision to learn and be a 3d animator, where drawing wasn't required, but where my animation skills would still be relevant. With the help of many online resources and mentors, plus my animation skills, I studied at home and later managed to find work in the 3d/CG animation industry. And so for 7 years, I worked as a 3d character animator of different projects for Big Idea, Nickelodeon, Dreamworks and Sony Pictures Imageworks, in various studios in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Despite my years of drawing as a traditional animator, there are still gaps in my knowledge of some of the basic drawing fundamentals. So after my job stint in Canada, I decided to take a long hiatus from animation to pursue my original passion, which is to draw again and learn how to paint.
Using digital tools like Clip Studio Paint, Artrage and occasionally Photoshop and Blender, I'm now doing a self-directed learning and practice of the drawing and painting basics.
It is my hope to be able to create concept illustrations someday.
